Florida Panthers Close Perfect 2014 Prospect Tournament

Here’s a quick recap of what probably didn’t happen in the Florida Panthers’ locker room yesterday:

Alright you guys, let’s listen up. We won a game yesterday. If we win one today, that’s two in a row. We win one tomorrow? That’s called a winning streak. It HAS happened before.”

Channeling his inner Lou Brown, recently hired bench boss Gerard Gallant may have evoked the spirit of Jobu, steering the young guns of the Florida Panthers’ Prospect Team to a convincing 6-3 victory over in-state rivals Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Closing out the round-robin tournament in style, the Cats threw a tournament-high 42 shots on net, getting to the Bolts fast and early. The boys leave Nashville with a perfect 3-0 record; beneficiaries of four point-a-game scorers in 2014 second-round selection Jayce Hawryluk, speedy CHL center Steven Hodges, 21-year old pro roster holdover Vincent Trocheck and big winger Logan Shaw, responsibility for the Panthers’ successful showing also rests on the shoulders of the University of Denver‘s Sam Brittain, a veritable brick wall in net who logged a 1.09 GAA and turned away 55-57 shots against.

Furthermore, two skaters were named to the officials/scouts All-Tournament Team; Trocheck and rearguard Aaron Ekblad received the distinction, with the latter being hailed in local Nashville media-per Litter Box Cats-alongside netminder Brittain. Now but a distant picture in the rear-view mirror, the organization’s future turns its eyes to the opening of Training Camp; a mere day away, the boys will finally get a chance to play with the men, making their case for an extended look at the pro-level.

WHY DON’T WE JUST TAKE ALL OF THE PROSPECTS, AND PUSH THEM TO THE PRO ROSTER.
