Deadline Deals: Tuomo Ruutu to New Jersey/Andrei Loktionov, Conditional Pick to Carolina

The Carolina Hurricanes have traded veteran forward Tuomo Ruutu  (31) to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for forward Andrei Loktionov  (23) and a Conditional 3rd-Round pick in 2017.

Ruutu is a 3-time 40+ point scorer that is no stranger to the physical game. In 606 career games, the Finnish center has scored 138 goals and 324 points, but has also accumulated 550 penalty minutes.

He has two years remaining on his contract after this season at $5 million/yr (cap hit of $4.75 million/yr).

The Russian center Loktionov has 38 points in 135 career games, including 12 points in 48 games this season.

He is a former Windsor Spitfire, who scored 66 points in 51 OHL games in 2008-09.

Loktionov is set to become a RFA following this season.
