Andrew Copp opened the scoring for Winnipeg halfway into the first period:

 

Johnny Gaudreau got the Flames on the board with a powerplay a little less than halfway into the second period:

 

The Flames capitalized again with their special teams on a short handed breakaway minutes later thanks to Tobias Rieder:

 

The special teams clicked one more time in the late 2nd period thanks to Mikael Backlund putting the Flames up 3-1:

 

The Flames held strong through the 3rd period and added an empty netter to skate away with the 4-1 game one victory and series lead:
