Fantasy Hockey Friday #17 (3/13/15)

FHF Key

Flash Sale = Players that are on strong hot streaks that you will need to add immediately before they are claimed by another team.

Bargain Bin = Similar to the Flash Sale category, except these players will not be as highly demanded. They will be claimed relatively quickly, but are not completely known to all teams.

Line Scorers = Players that are currently very low in ownership percentage and includes less-skilled players who are currently playing on productive lines, and have proved/might prove worthy of adding. As every studious fantasy owner knows, line combinations are everything.

FHF

Flash Sale

Cam Talbot – G, 54% owned – New York Rangers

With Henrik Lundqvist still sidelined, Talbot has been outstanding in his absence. In his last nine starts, he has recorded seven wins, including two shutouts. More recently he has won three straight games against Chicago, New York Islanders and Washington (all on the road), while allowing a combined one goal, and including a shutout over the Blackhawks.

Andrew Hammond – G, 43% owned (LW: 40%; PW: 20%) – Ottawa Senators

Even with starter Craig Anderson healthy, Hammond is still stealing starts in Ottawa. After Anderson lost his first two games, Hammond defeated Carey Price and the Habs while allowing only two first period goals. He will also start tonight against the New York Islanders. Currently he has an impressive 8-0-1 record, 1.49 GAA, and .952 SP.

Johnny Gaudreau – LW, 54% owned – Calgary Flames

Gaudreau’s stellar rookie campaign has seen him surpass the 50-point plateau, the first Flame to do so since Jarome Iginla. Recently he has scored three goals and six points in his past five games. Two of those three goals came on the man-advantage. 15 of his 50 points have also come on the power play.

Sean Monahan – C, 47% owned – Calgary Flames

Even without star defenseman Mark Giordano, the Flames are managing to win games, thanks in large part to the play of Sean Monahan. In his last 12 games (starting after his last pointless streak of four games) he has scored 8 goals and 14 points, including five goals in his past seven games. This gives him 25 goals and 48 points on the year. He also has 151 shots and 16 power play points, including four consecutive games in which he recorded a point on the man-advantage.

Mark Stone – RW, 16% owned – Ottawa Senators

In his last seven games, Stone has scored three goals and seven points, including a power play goal in his most recent game. He has quickly added to his season totals, which now include 17 goals and 44 points (including 9 power play points), a plus-12 rating, and 110 shots.

Eddie Lack – G, 39% owned – Vancouver Canucks

Ryan Miller is still 2-3 weeks from returning from injury, so Lack will start nearly every game until he’s healthy. Of his last five starts, four were outstanding performances, including a win against both San Jose (on the road) and Anaheim (at home). He now has ten wins, a 2.48 GAA and .918 SP.

Justin Abdelkader – LW/RW, 29% owned – Detroit Red Wings

Abdelkader is on fire for the Red Wings with five goals and six points in his last six games. He has far surpassed his previous point total set last season with 36 this year. He has 12 power play points, 121 shots, and 134 hits.

Bargain Bin

Anders Lee – C/LW, 50% owned (LW: 48%) – New York Islanders

Lee continues to impress on the island. He has increased his season stats to 23 goals and 38 points, with the help of his recent six-game point streak. He also has a plus-16 rating and 164 shots.

Marek Zidlicky – D, 37% owned – Detroit Red Wings

Since being acquired by the Red Wings at the trade deadline, he has scored two goals and an assist, all of which have come on the power play. In his career, 69% of his goals and 49% of his career assists have come on the power play. In addition, he has earned a plus-six rating.

Michael Frolik – C/RW, 13% owned – Winnipeg Jets

Frolik is currently centering the Jets’ top line between Andrew Ladd and Drew Stafford. In his last eight games, he has scored five goals and eight points. This gives him 16 goals and 37 points on the season.
