Analyzing the Impact of Connor Bedard’s Recent Comments

Many aspects about Connor Bedard, both on and off the ice, are difficult to criticize. The NHL will remember the young Canadian talent for years to come. Bedard has been bombarded with inquiries about his opinion of the Chicago Blackhawks as he and other top prospects get ready to begin their NHL careers at the NHL Entry Draft later this month.

Nobody anticipates Bedard to offer a bad response about the Chicago Blackhawks, who are most likely to choose him, but many fans are concerned due to the team’s dubious reputation. Bedard responded as follows when asked about the possibility of being selected first overall by Chicago.

Connor Bedard said, it’d be “awesome” if he was taken by Chicago at No. 1 overall: “The history with that organization and that city with sports would be unbelievable. We’ll see what happens. If they do select me, that would be a huge honor.”

Fans didn’t appear to agree with Bedard’s statement, despite the fact that there isn’t much of a “if” in this situation. Many people disapproved of Bedard’s apparent excitement and pointed out that there was no justification for it given the previous scandals in Chicago.

The Blackhawks continue to draw criticism for what transpired in the Kyle Beach sex abuse case.

This raised a commotion on Twitter despite Bedard not bringing it up in his interview.

“Is he aware of The past decade of Hawks criminal acts? The organization covered up sex abuse of players

Maybe he should read up and HOPE he doesn’t go 1st overall.”

Although acknowledging the conditions in Chicago would help to diffuse the situation, it will not at all affect his selection as the first overall pick.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
