Flyers Extend Couturier for Two More Years

The Philadelphia Flyers have agreed to a two-year contract extension with forward Sean Couturier. The 20-year olds new contract is worth $3.5 million over the two years.

Couturier had 15 points last season with the Flyers in his sophomore campaign. In the 46 games he played, Couturier was minus-eight.

He also appeared in 31 regular season games with the Flyers’ AHL affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms. During this lockout stint, he posted an impressive 28 points with the Phantoms.

In his first season with the Flyers, Couturier had 18 points in 77 games while going plus 18. He proved his defensive game was strong and became a two-way forward.

Last season was a step backward but at age 20, there is nowhere but up for the youngster.

Couturier was taken by the Flyers as the eighth overall pick in the 2011 entry draft.
