NHL Ice Girl of the Day: Caitlin of the Philadelphia Flyers

1) When and how did you get into hockey?
A: I grew up in the rink my whole life because of figure skating, so naturally I was always a hockey
fan. However, I became a huge fan during college and that was what led me to try out for the
Philadelphia Flyers Ice Team back in 2009.

2) Who is your favorite hockey player of all-time?
A: He’s a more recent player but, Simon Gagne. I think what solidified it for me was after he got
traded to the kings. The first flyers home game he played, the moment he stepped on the ice
everyone in the stadium stood and cheered. It showed what an impact he left on the team and
fans in Philly. So sad to have seen him go.

3) If you could meet any current hockey player, who would it be?
A: Sidney Crosby. I know, as a flyers fan I could be disowned, shot & killed for saying something so
blasphemous. And yes, he may be the biggest crybaby of all time, but when you score the game
winning goal for the Stanley Cup & the Olympics I guess you can suck personality wise and
people will still love you.

4) What are some of your hobbies and interests?
A: As of late, I’ve gotten into kite surfing. I’m not great at it but I will be, someday. Other hobbies
include traveling (actually traveling, not sitting on a beach in Mexico), building things, & my dog.
(and by my dog I mean my brothers white German Shepard that I claim as my own)

5) What’s the best thing about being an NHL Ice Girl?
A: Tripping other ice girls while they’re on the ice. Last year, I pretty much got everyone on the
entire team, including one of our Ice Boys.

6) Did you play organized hockey growing up or if not would you be interested in learning to
play?
A: No. Yes. I am always up for something new. I may suck but I will guarantee you’ll get some good
laughs out of watching.

7) How many seasons have you been an NHL Ice Girl?
A: 5 (five)

8) What do you love the most about hockey?
A: The thrill of it. I’m kind of a sports girl, but I loose interest when the game is slow and with
hockey its always interesting. I’m sorry baseball.. I just cant.

9) What would be your dream job?
A: Travel blogger. Currently in pursuit…

10) How would you describe yourself in 3 words?
A: I. Am. MacGyver.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
