Sean Avery Unleashes Scathing Critique on Ryan Reaves’ Lackluster 2023-24 Season Performance

Over the course of decades on the ice, the National Hockey League (NHL) has witnessed a number of players use some extreme actions. The fans of the game have labeled them as “pests” because of these kinds of plays. Sean Avery was one such “pest,” according to the league. Using these strategies, he gained notoriety and is now heard discussing many subjects on his podcast. He recently criticized Ryan Reaves for his on-ice behavior.

But this is not the first time he’s attempted to outdo Reaves. This season, the player signed a contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, which did not sit well with the podcast host. Avery has predicted that this deal would become a “sideshow” at the moment Reaves joined.

Reaves and Chicago Blackhawks player Corey Perry have recently been embroiled in an ongoing feud. Even during the Blackhawks’ 4-1 victory over the Maple Leafs, they got into a fight. The two had looked at each other from the benches and had not even been punished for their previous altercation. Avery would try his hand at mocking the 19-year NHL veteran once again.

“Let me just ask Ryan Reaves, what planet do you live on brother? I know you’re in Toronto right now and everyone is buying you Tim Hortons and Timbits and you’re getting back pats everywhere you go… but what is wrong with you? ”

“You will be out of the lineup by Game 46 because you’re a clock killer. You can’t play in the league anymore. So, please check yourself when referring to Corey Perry not being your equal in the toughness department.”

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
