BREAKING: Gary Bettman Caught in a Major Controversy After Being Exposed as a Liar

No one is surprised that everyone’s “favorite” NHL Commissioner is once again in the news. The controversial NHL icon is currently facing criticism for his assertions that NHL fights have no connection to the brain injury known as CTE.

Allan Walsh, a similarly contentious figure who represents some of the NHL’s largest clients, has made it his mission to refute Bettman’s most recent assertions regarding CTE.

In case you missed it, Bettman stated the following in regards to CTE and fighting:

“Now you’re throwing in CTE. We listened to the medical opinions on CTE, and I don’t believe there has been any documented study that suggests elements of our game result in CTE.” – Gary Bettman

Bettman seems pretty sure that CTE has no relation to fighting in hockey, but a little digging will prove quite the contrary. Allan Walsh was more than happy to provide the receipts for the evidence as well, further embarrassing Bettman.

“On the left, Gary Bettman’s recent radio interview where he claims there are no studies linking repetitive head impacts to CTE. On the right, one of many published studies, this one definitive, linking repetitive head impacts to CTE, co-authored by 14 leading scientists.”

The research in question are available here, in Walsh’s tweet.

At this point, it appears like Bettman would rather to dismiss any issues with the NHL than to admit them and make improvements for the players’ safety.

We can’t say we’re surprised, even though Bettman’s actions are regrettable. He has a reputation for acting in this way and has done so ever since he became NHL commissioner.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
