A Canucks Lockout Update

Former NHL puckstopper thrilled to be back helping Vancouver’s young goalies develop.  Canucks have added former NHL Goaltender Dan Cloutier as a goaltending consultant to the organization’s staff.

Dan Cloutier signed his deal way back in the summer a little after his stint at the Prospect Camp at Rogers Arena.

Cloutier will handle all jobs Rollie Melanson can’t do on his own or don’t have the time for.  Cloutier, who spent ten years in the NHL played for 4 different teams during his career.  In his five years with the Canucks, Cloutier appeared in 208 games with a record of 109-68-23. He also recorded 14 shutouts, and a 2.42 GAA.

Cloutier will also do some scouting of goaltenders for the Canucks, and also be working with Canucks Goalies who are in Junior and in College.

Former Vancouver Canuck goaltender Dan Cloutier was hired by the NHL team on Tuesday to be its new goaltending consultant. He is expected to begin work on Wednesday helping the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League develop their young puckstoppers.

In other news, David Booth is “killing” time while he’s locked out. And when I say “killing”, I mean literally killing. Booth recently tweeted a picture with a caption saying “just killing time….and wapiti in Montana” the picture included him, a wapiti (elk) and a large crossbow.  No word if bait was used.  Due to the nature of the photo, I will not be posting it to the website; you can find it on his twitter, if you’re so interested. Booth who earlier this summer posted a youtube video of him killing a black bear, sorry I mean Zdeno Chara (ha ha), got a lot of criticism for this video, but wasn’t fined nor warned by Canucks Staff.

Mason Raymond and Kevin Bieksa will be crashing minor hockey practices in the Metro Vancouver area during the lockout.  The NHLPA has requested some players to drop in on practices while they aren’t playing hockey and help coach the team.  Bieksa and Raymond have kept hush hush of where they will crash, but said it will be this Thursday.  Michael Grabner (former canuck) did one in Long Island Monday.  Bieksa also elaborated that he will be doing this at least once a week while the Lockout is in progress.

With a new arena in the process of being built in Seattle, and mentioned as a possible home for an NHL team, Henrik Sedin said that’s fine.  Maybe not the reason you think though.  Sedin confessed on Tuesday that he’s never visited Seattle.  BUT said he knows there’s a zoo down there.  Good Job Henrik, you only live 5 hours from Seattle, and all you know about the city is they have a big Zoo.  Atta boy.
