Mark Scheifele Assigned to the OHL

19 year old forward Mark Scheifele, has seen his second stint with the Winnipeg Jets come to an end. The 7th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft was sent down to the Barrie Colts of the OHL for some more seasoning after going pointless in 4 NHL games. The 19-year old certainly  has the potential to be a goal scorer in the NHL, but needs polishing on his game, and needs to be steadier on his skates and get stronger and bigger.

Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff had good things to say of Scheifele after breaking the news; “Every challenge that he’s had in front of him he’s met and I’m very, very confident that he’s going to meet the challenges ahead of him with the Jets organization.” Cheveldayoff also added that the youngster took the news in stride, stating that “You want to play at the highest level as fast as you can but he certainly understood it.”

Mark Scheifele is a big contributor and scorer for the Barrie Colts, and a full regular season with maximum minutes and a long playoff run will do much more for Mark’s development than sitting in the press box watching the Winnipeg Jets play.
