Key Games this week: Tonight, the Montreal Canadiens look to extend their five-game winning streak to six when the Philadelphia Flyers come to play in the Bell Centre. The New York Islanders look to also extend their streak to six when they visit the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Toronto Maple Leafs look for a quick recovery from their loss against the Pittsburgh Penguins with a game against the Buffalo Sabres in the First Niagara Center. The Carolina Hurricanes and Boston Bruins play in a 1:00 matinee at the TD Garden, followed by another matinee when the Minnesota Wild take on the Dallas Stars at 2:00 P.M. Eastern.

The rest of the week is highlighted by tomorrow’s game between the Dallas Stars and the Chicago Blackhawks, as well as a clash of original six teams between the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings. Monday’s lone game sees the Tampa Bay Lightning strike at Madison Square Garden to take on the New York Rangers.

Tuesday sees the Boston Bruins play host to the St. Louis Blues in a strong defensive showdown, while the Pittsburgh Penguins take on the Montreal Canadiens. Wednesday has rivals Vancouver Canucks face off against lowly Edmonton Oilers, while middle of the pack Philadelphia Flyers  take on the New York Rangers in a Metropolitan Division clash.

Originally hailing from the tropical paradise of Venezuela, I moved to Canada at age 11 for the sole reason of falling in love with hockey as a self-proclaimed Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Now a Canadian citizen, my mad love affair with hockey represents a statistical contribution as opposed to an anomaly. Being able to write this well despite having Spanish as a first language is enough of an anomaly (I'm occasionally biased).
