Fantasy Hockey Friday #4 (11/7/14)

FHF Key

Flash Sale = Players that are on strong hot streaks that you will need to add immediately before they are claimed by another team.

Bargain Bin = Similar to the ODO category, except these players will not be as highly demanded. They will be claimed relatively quickly, but are not completely known to all teams.

Line Scorers = Players that are currently very low in ownership percentage and includes less-skilled players who are currently playing on productive lines, and have proved/might prove worthy of adding. As every studious fantasy owner knows, line combinations are everything.

FHF

Flash Sale

Clarke MacArthur – LW, 61% owned

The Senators are 7-3-2 in the Atlantic Division, and this guy is a big reason why. He has five goals and an assist in his last five games, giving him ten points for the season. In the process, he’s added to his valuable shot total of 36. Additionally, Clarke has 19 hits and is a plus-one. Along with center Kyle Turris and right winger Bobby Ryan, MacArthur is on the top line, as well as the top power play unit with David Legwand, Mark Stone, Turris, and Erik Karlsson.

Nikita Kucherov – LW/RW, 43% owned

Kucherov is on the offensively-charged second line in Tampa Bay with Ondrej Palat and Tyler Johnson, all of whom are on the second power play unit as well. Nikita has compiled five goals (including a hat trick) and five assists in his last six games. He’s a plus-seven with 31 shots. His ownership has grown 18% since yesterday.

Nick Bonino – C, 39% owned

Bonino is proving to be a very valuable acquisition for the Vancouver Canucks this year. He has six goals and four assists in his last nine games, giving him twelve points total. He’s a plus-seven with 33 shots, and a few hits and penalty minutes. He centers the second line with Chris Higgins on the left and Alex Burrows on the right. He and Higgins comprise the second power play unit along with Radim Vrbata.

Johnny Gaudreau – LW, 25% owned

The rookie dubbed “Johnny Hockey” has been on fire in Calgary. After a slow start in the team’s first two games, he has nine in his past nine. He shoots the puck often, regardless of his ice time. He’s a plus-seven with three power play points and the Flames continue to roll. He does not have any penalty minutes or hits this season. He’s currently on the top line with Markus Granlund and Jiri Hudler, as well as the top power play unit with Sean Monahan and Devin Setoguchi.

Bargain Bin

Sean Monahan – C, 23% owned

#23 is currently owned in 23% of all Yahoo! leagues, and his stock is rising rapidly. In his last seven games, he has five goals and two assists (two power play goals, one power play assist). He has an outstanding number of shots (41) as well. He centers Calgary’s second line with Curtis Glencross and David Jones. Sean is also on the first power play unit alongside Gaudreau and Setoguchi.

Reilly Smith – RW, 23% owned

Smith was on the first line. Then he was bumped to the fourth, then back to the first. Now he’s on the second. The young winger has five points in his last six games. In that span he was a plus-six. He is trending upward right now, so add him quick. The Bruins never go on long slumps, and now that star center David Krejci has returned from injured reserve, they have a lot of skill on their top two lines. His linemates are Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron. Smith is also on the top power play unit with Loui Eriksson and Bergeron.

Troy Brouwer – RW, 19% owned

Brouwer hasn’t produced many points throughout the season, but is trending lately due to his four points (three goals) in his last four games. He is beginning to shoot the puck more and more, and his 37 hits are always beneficial for leagues that count the stat.

Jori Lehtera – C, 12% owned

Due to the rash of injuries the St. Louis Blues have had, Lehtera has been a nice surprise. In his last six games he has a goal and five assists, while earning a plus-six rating. He’s on a three-game assist streak with the last two coming on the man-advantage. He’s currently on the very productive second line alongside Jaden Schwartz and the Russian phenom Vladimir Tarasenko. The trio are also on the second power play unit.

Marcus Johansson – C/LW, 9% owned

The second line in Washington is starting to find good chemistry, with Marcus Johansson, Andre Burakovsky, and Troy Brouwer (see above). Johansson has scored three goals and two assists in his last five games. Johansson is on the top power play unit with Niklas Backstrom, Brouwer, Alex Ovechkin, and Mike Green.
