Florida Panthers have opted to buyout defenseman Keith Yandle

According to NHL Insider Ellittoe Friedman, the Florida Panthers are parting ways with Keith Yandle via the buyout process.

As per CapFriendly, Florida’s cap hit for buying out the remaining two years of Yandle’s contract will look like this spread out over the next four seasons.

Cap hit cost:

2021-22: $2,341,667

2022-23: $5,391,667

2023-24: $1.241,667

2024-25: $1.241,667

Buyouts are seldom a good thing, the Cats will get an extra $4 million to work with this summer and $944K of additional space next season.

They will still have to work around $1.242 million in dead cap space in years three and four.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me?
