Landeskog Re-Signs in Colorado

The Avalanche have re-signed captain Gabriel Landeskog, 28, to an eight-year deal, as reported by the Avalanche itself. Initial reports say the deal is worth $56 million over 8 years, or $7 million per year.

Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet first reported the details of the deal:

The agreement went to the wire as teams had until midnight on Tuesday to re-sign their own UFAs.

Landeskog has been an integral part of the Avalanche for a decade now. He is the team’s captain and posted 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in 54 games during the shortened 2020-21 season.

He helped the Avs win the Presidents’ Trophy last season before they ultimately were brought down by the Vegas Golden Knights in the second round of the NHL playoffs. Landeskog posted 13 points in 10 playoff games.

Colorado’s captain has collected 512 points in 687 career games since being selected by the Avalanche with the second pick in the 2011 NHL Draft.
