The Bruins announced last week that they had fired Cassidy after six seasons with the team. Cassidy finished his time in Boston with a record of 245-108-46 and led the team to within one win of a Stanley Cup Finals victory in 2019. However, the team opted part ways with the coach following the team’s first-round exit from the Stanley Cup Playoffs this past season.
Cassidy led the Bruins to the postseason in all six years at the helm. The 57-year-old won the Jack Adams Award as coach of the year in 2019-20, and he ranks 12th all-time in points percentage among coaches with at least 82 games.
The Golden Knights fired Peter DeBoer as head coach on May 16 after missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.
