Hockey Community Mourns the Loss of Former NHL Defenseman Gerry Hart

Gerry Hart, a former defenseman in the National Hockey League, passed away at the age of just 75, according to the New York Islanders.

As an undersized defenseman with a reputation for playing bigger than his size, Hart won the hearts of many fans throughout his time in the NHL. He also spent time with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Islanders, Quebec Nordiques, and St. Louis Blues, garnering admirers in a variety of NHL markets.

He would play in 730 games in the NHL throughout the course of his career, scoring 29 goals and dishing out 150 assists for a total of 179 points.

I’m sending prayers, condolences, and love to Hart’s loved ones, family, and friends.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
