Lee Stempniak Named Second Star of the Week

For the week ending January 24, New Jersey Devils first line forward Lee Stempniak was named second star, alongside two goalies – the first star was Colorado netminder Semyon Varlamov, and the third was St. Louis’ Brian Elliott.

Stempniak scored four goals in three games last week, Stempniak shared the League lead with four goals in three games, helping the Devils hold down the eighth spot in the Eastern Conference.

He had his first multi-goal game since April 4, 2015 on January 23, in a 3 – 1 victory over his former team, the Winnipeg Jets. Stempniak is now second in scoring on the team, with 14 goals and 22 assists in 49 games. His 14 goals are only one less than his career high 15 goals in the 71 games he played in 2014-2015.
