Deadline Deals: Matt Moulson, Cody McCormick to Minnesota/Torrey Mitchell, Draft Pick to Buffalo

Matt Moulson and Cody McCormick have been traded to the Minnesota Wild, while Buffalo in turn acquires forward Torrey Mitchell and a pick to be announced.

The 30-year old goal-scoring left wing Moulson is set to become an UFA after this season ends. His 3-year, $9.4 million contract is nearing its expiration date. He could potentially be a lot more than a mid-season rental for the Wild if he decides to re-sign in the summer.

He has 17 goals and 38 points over 55 games with the Islanders and Sabres this season. In 377 career games, he has 135 goals and 262 points.

This is a great acquisition by the Wild and really bolsters their roster for a run at the Stanley Cup.

Left winger Torrey Mitchell has 90 points in 383 NHL games at age 29.
