Fantasy Hockey Friday #15 (2/27/15)

FHF Key

Flash Sale = Players that are on strong hot streaks that you will need to add immediately before they are claimed by another team.

Bargain Bin = Similar to the Flash Sale category, except these players will not be as highly demanded. They will be claimed relatively quickly, but are not completely known to all teams.

Line Scorers = Players that are currently very low in ownership percentage and includes less-skilled players who are currently playing on productive lines, and have proved/might prove worthy of adding. As every studious fantasy owner knows, line combinations are everything.

FHF

Flash Sale

Anders Lee – C/LW, 48% owned – New York Islanders

His stellar play to the left of John Tavares continues. In the month of February he scored seven goals (including three power play goals) and 14 points in 13 games. In the four months prior he registered only 18 points. This gives him 20 goals and 32 points for the year.

Eddie Lack – G, 39% owned – Vancouver Canucks

With Ryan Miller out for a month or more, Eddie Lack is the starter in Vancouver. In his first test, he stopped 40 of 41 shots in Boston. His next game wasn’t good, but every goalie has an off-game once in a while. He’s definitely worth the add. He has a 2.53 GAA and .916 SP.

Mike Hoffman – C/LW, 25% owned (LW: 16%) – Ottawa Senators

February has been Hoffman’s best month of the season. In 11 games, he has notched four goals and ten points while earning a plus-four rating. The Senators are beginning to make a push for a wild card spot with the outstanding play of goalie Andrew Hammond, so he’s worth the grab. He has 21 goals and 36 points in 56 games this season.

Derick Brassard – C, 53% owned – New York Rangers

Brassard surpassed his month-high point total he recorded back in November by scoring 13 points in 13 games this month. He has been an assist-making machine, with 12 of those 13 being helpers.

Anton Stralman – D, 53% owned – Tampa Bay Lightning

Stralman has scored seven points in his last six games, including two power play assists. He now has 26 assists and 30 points for the year, including a plus-20 rating, 96 shots, and 76 hits.

Bargain Bin

Andrew Hammond – G, 20% owned – Ottawa Senators

With starting netminder Craig Anderson still out with a hand injury and Robin Lehner now out with a concussion, the crease is Hammond’s to lose right now. He just became the first goalie in Senators history to record a win in each of his first four starts. His last two starts were shutouts of the Anaheim Ducks and Los Angeles Kings respectively (60 for 60). This gives him an impressive 4-0-0 record, 1.15 GAA and .962 SP.

Michal Neuvirth – G, 12% owned – Buffalo Sabres

The Sabres may not provide adequate offense, but Neuvirth has been a star. He has started seven consecutive games since the trade of starter Jhonas Enroth. Although he won only three of those seven, he was outstanding nonetheless. His save-percentages in those games were: .933, .971, .947, .930, .974, .957, and .903.

Mike Cammalleri – C/LW, 41% owned – New Jersey Devils

Cammalleri has scored five goals and six points in his last four games, giving him 23 goals and 28 points in total. He hasn’t been very consistent, but he can be very useful when he’s riding a hot streak like this.

Michael Del Zotto – D, 23% owned – Philadelphia Flyers

Del Zotto has six points in his last seven games, including a power play helper and a game-winning goal. This gives him 24 points for the season, in addition to his 90 shots and 120 hits.

Antoine Vermette – C/LW, 23% owned – Arizona Coyotes

Vermette has struggled mightily in the month of February, his lowest point-production of the season (4 points in 13 games), but he does have 13 goals and 35 points in 62 games. His value lies in his post-trade deadline home, which very likely will be a team not named the Coyotes.

Chris Stewart – RW, 9% owned – Buffalo Sabres

Stewart makes this list because it is highly likely that he will be on a team other than the Buffalo Sabres come Monday’s Trade Deadline. He is a skilled power forward that has a lot of potential, but at the moment he does not have a good supporting cast to allow him to thrive. He does have 11 goals and 25 points for the season. You can ignore the minus-30 rating.
