Tampa Bay Lightning sign forward Alex Barre-Boulet to three-year contract

The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed forward Alex Barre-Boulet to a three-year contract worth $758,333 AAV, vice president and general manager Julien BriseBois announced today. The first year of the contract is a two-way deal, and the second and third years are one way.

Barre-Boulet, 24, skated in 15 games with the Lightning last season, posting three goals and 26 shots on goal. He made his NHL debut on February 22 against the Carolina Hurricanes and scored his first career NHL goal on April 25 against Columbus. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound forward scored in back-to-back games on April 25-27. Two of his three goals came on the man-advantage. He also skated in 10 games for the Syracuse Crunch in 2020-21, posting eight goals and 12 points. Barre-Boulet registered at least one point in each AHL game last season, which included a five-game goal streak.

The Montmagny, Quebec native has appeared in 144 career AHL games, all with the Crunch over the past three seasons, posting 69 goals and 136 points to go along with 40 penalty minutes. Barre-Boulet represented the Crunch at the 2020 AHL All-Star Classic, leading Syracuse for goals (27) and points (56) during the 2019-20 season. He won AHL Rookie of the Year for the 2018-19 season, posting a league-best 34 goals, while ranking sixth for points with 68.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me?
