Another Saturday, another round of awards to be handed out! For this week, I will incorporate the previous week’s results as well, considering that it was only one or two games.

Key games of the week: Plenty of games tonight, with 22 teams active. Look for a scrappy affair between the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins, with statistical leaders John Tavares and Sidney Crosby clashing for the first time. Columbus looks to continue their good record against the Ottawa Senators. Look for Alex Ovechkin to score in bunches against the lowly Florida Panthers. The second half of the home-and-home between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Detroit Red Wings will be an important factor in determining whether Coach Randy Carlyle is employed at the end of the month. Saturday’s game of the night is between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators, as Chicago is heavily favored, but statistically, the Nashville Predators have every chance to pull off the win.

Tuesday will see a clash of original six teams as the Detroit Red Wings take on the Montreal Canadiens, while dark horse New Jersey Devils take on a struggling Henrik Lundqvist and the New York Rangers.

The first installment of the Battle of Ontario is scheduled for Wednesday at 7 PM, while inter-state rivals Philadelphia Flyers and Pittsburgh Penguins clash for the first time this season an hour later.

Johnny Boychuk takes on his former team when the New York Islanders meet the Boston Bruins on Thursday, while the Chicago Blackhawks and the Nashville Predators play once more.

Originally hailing from the tropical paradise of Venezuela, I moved to Canada at age 11 for the sole reason of falling in love with hockey as a self-proclaimed Pittsburgh Penguins fan. Now a Canadian citizen, my mad love affair with hockey represents a statistical contribution as opposed to an anomaly. Being able to write this well despite having Spanish as a first language is enough of an anomaly (I'm occasionally biased).
