Deadline Deals: Reto Berra to Colorado/Draft Pick to Calgary

Calgary Flames and Team Switzerland backup netminder Reto Berra has been traded to the Colorado Avalanche.

The 27-year old goalie is in his first NHL season, and it hasn’t gone well. But that can be attributed to the team he played for.

His 9-17-2 record, .897 SP, and 2.95 GAA are some really ugly numbers, but Colorado is a contender. It’ll be interesting to see how he performs with a strong team in front of him.

He is set to become an UFA at season’s end. His cap hit this year was just $850,000, so he will be looking to impress potential employers throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Berra played one game for the Swiss Olympic hockey team in Sochi and performed very well in net.
