Sharks Sign Four, Trade One

It’s been a busy day for General Manager Doug Wilson of the San Jose Sharks.

The beginning of the day started off with four signings. The Sharks signed Matt Nieto, Chris Crane, Chris Tierney, and Daniil Tarasov to contracts.

Things then got more interesting when Ryane Clowe’s name surfaced once again in trade rumors. At the end of the day he was going to be playing in a new sweater, it was just a question who. News then surfaced that he was traded to the New York Rangers for a second round pick in 2013, a third round pick in 2014, and a conditional second round pick in 2014. Clowe was originally selected by San Jose in the sixth round (175th overall) in the 2001 NHL Draft. He leaves the Sharks ranked ninth on the San Jose all-time points list with 271 (101 goals, 170 assists) in 423 NHL games.  A fan favorite, Clowe will be missed in San Jose.
