Deadline Deals: Marian Gaborik to Los Angeles/Matt Frattin, Two Picks to Columbus

Columbus Blue Jackets right wing Marian Gaborik has been traded to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for forward Matt Frattin, a 2nd-Round pick and a Conditional 3rd-Round pick.

The Kings already have a wealth of right wingers in Justin Williams, Jeff Carter, and Dustin Brown, but there will have to be some shifting in the line combos after this move.

Gaborik hasn’t quite yet found his stride this season, with only 6 goals and 14 points in 22 contests, but his track record speaks for itself.

The 32-year old forward will become a UFA this summer after having received equal payments of $7.5 million over the past five seasons (including the current one).

Gaborik is a 3-time 40+ goal scorer who has 688 points (including 342 goals) in 791 NHL games.

He will either play on the first line (with center Anze Kopitar) or the second line (with center Mike Richards).

Columbus in turn, acquires 26-year old forward Matt Frattin who has 34 points in 122 NHL games.
