Vladimir Sobotka Injured and Out of Olympics

It’s official.  The St. Louis Blues forward, Vladimir Sobotka has been placed on injured reserve with a leg injury.

It was late in the third period against the Carolina Hurricane’s, last Friday, when Sobotka took a hit that pulled him out of the game.  His prognosis was still day-to-day until Sunday evening when the Blues announced that he was officially placed on reserve.
With this news, Sobotka will be missing his debut at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Sobotka had been picked to play for the Czech Republic’s team in the Olympic hockey tournament. His (possible) kneecap injury will be reevaluated in about four weeks.  Sobotka’s presence will be sorely missed as he has quickly become a Blues fan favorite.  So far this season Sobotka has recorded 7 goals, 18 assists and an overall 60% success rate on faceoff’s.

The Trebic native was one of ten Blues players named to play in the Olympics.  It’s likely he will not be able to play even after the Olympics are over.

In the early hours on February 3rd, the Blues recalled forward, Dimitrij Jaskin from the Chicago Wolves.  No offense to Jaskin, but I’m crossing all my fingers and toes that Sobotka’s injury heals in the coming weeks.  Sobotka’s determination and skill will be needed on the long road to the Stanley Cup.

I was born and raised in St. Louis. My family loves hockey. Let's Go Blues!!!! I write novels in my spare time; and any time I have the cash to travel, I will. Soccer is my other favorite sport. I lived in New York City for a minute-it was awesome. I need coffee to survive, but no, seriously. And a last fun fact: I am the worst ice skater, ever; but I still like to try!
