Still No Captain for the 2015-16 New Jersey Devils

Last season, Bryce Salvador donned the “C” on his red and black uniform, though it often hung unworn in the dressing room – Salvador was injured for the majority of the 2014/2015 campaign. Recently, though, Salvador announced his retirement, leaving the “C” open. With less than two weeks until the new season begins, though, the coveted letter remains unattached to any jersey, leaving lots of talk and speculation over who will stitch it to their chest – if anyone.

Speculation flying around often brings up names like Travis Zajac (though he has lately been involved in trade rumours) and Adam Henrique, though new coach John Hynes says there is no timetable on naming a captain, and says it isn’t even a priority.

The Devils may also opt to go without a captain this season, as Hynes leaves all options open (though he says he isn’t trying to be purposefully vague, it kind of feels like it…).

The Devils will kick off their regular season Friday, October 9 at their home Prudential Center, as they take on the Winnipeg Jets.
