FeaturedWeekly Wager Wednesdays

Weekly Wager Wednesday #7 (11/26/14)

It’s the day before American Thanks Giving and there are plenty of games on tonight to lead us into the holiday. With last week’s 2-0 sweep on my picks I sit at a 9-6 record and can double my wins by the end of tonight; at least that’s the plan!

Winnipeg Jets vs. Buffalo Sabres

Iggy’s Pick: Jets

Here’s Why: Coming off a Win from the previous night, the Jets are looking to double up their winnings and keep momentum going to rise up in the standings. The Sabres no matter how bad record wise are never an easy opponent but the Jets have the offense to take it in their favor.

Washington Capitals vs. New York Islanders

Iggy’s Pick: Islanders

Here’s Why: The Islanders are the hottest team in the league and it’s hard to pick against them. They’re at home and can light up the scoreboard in a matter of seconds. This should be a great divisional game with the isles prevailing.

Philadelphia Flyers vs. Detroit Red Wings

Iggy’s Pick: Wings

Here’s Why: The Wings are better for the most part at home. I think out of all matches up this may be the very toss up one of the night so I’ll edge it to the Wings just for the fact they get to be home as Thanksgiving approaches.

New York Rangers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Iggy’s Pick: Lightning

Here’s Why: They came into New York earlier in the season and beat the Rangers and now in Marty’s return to Tampa since his trade it’s not going to get any easier. The Bolts are another great team this year that can beat you multiple ways and playing at home on such an occasion should prove just that.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Florida Panthers

Iggy’s Pick: Panthers

Here’s Why: The Panthers may not be scoring that much but they also aren’t giving up goals at a premium when Lu is in net. Between two struggling teams, the Panthers should find enough to edge out the Canes at home.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

Iggy’s Pick: Penguins

Here’s Why: The Pens are looking to get back on track after dropping a home and home series to the Islanders over the weekend. Tonight’s matchup should be in their favor on home ice.

Los Angeles Kings vs Minnesota Wild

Iggy’s Picks: Wild

Here’s Why: The Kings have been awful on the road this year and I see the road woes continuing. The Wild should take advantage of this factor and use home ice to propel themselves to a W tonight.

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Colorado Avalanche

Iggy’s Picks: Blackhawks

Here’s Why: The Blackhawks have been doing alright but the Avs are struggling after coming off quite possibly an overachieving season. Goalie injuries have limited the Avs success and the Blackhawks will pounce at the net every opportunity they get.

Calgary Flames vs. San Jose Sharks

Iggy’s Pick: Flames

here’s Why:  The Flames are one of the few NHL surprises this season. Meanwhile the Sharks have lost some games in very ugly fashion including on home ice. That’s exactly why I see the Flames coming out with a W in this matchup.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me?
