Check This Out: Ovechkin Signs One-Game Contract with Soccer Team and Goes on to Score A Goal from his sweet-spot!

Alexander Ovechkin gave it a go with professional soccer this past Saturday.

The Capitals superstar announced on Friday that he was signing a one-day contract with FC Dynamo Moscow of the Russian Premier League in order to play in a friendly matchup against Amkal, which is described as a “popular blogging team”.

Ovechkin wore the number 3 in his lone appearance, done in honor of his father Alex Ovechkin Sr., who wore that number when he was a member of Dynamo Moscow’s soccer club during his playing days.

“Today we signed a contract with [Ovi] for this match,” said Dynamo general director Pavel Pivovarov via Google Translate.

“Alexander is a great athlete, he scored more goals than Cristiano Ronaldo. We invite everyone to watch this action! Let’s hope that Alexander will not let you down and perform well on the football field.”

Ovechkin is no stranger to the Dynamo Moscow organization, either. The Great Eight was drafted by the Capitals while playing for their hockey club, and even brought Dynamo Moscow a Russian Super League championship and Gagarin Cup during his tenure with the team.

And of course when it came to the game with no surprise the Great 8 or in this case “3” made his presence felt by scoring a goal:

At this point in his career are we at all surprised?

It just goes to show that Ovechkin can just about do it all when it comes to scoring in any sport 😉

Ovechkin currently sits at 780 career NHL goals and is eyeing to break the NHL record set by Wayne Gretzky at 894. It’s very doable and at only a matter of time until he becomes the official greatest goal-scorer of all-time.

I grew up playing Ball and Roller Hockey day and night somewhat religiously throughout elementary and middle school. The two don't compare though when I lace up the skates and hit the ice. I live and breathe hockey beyond the perspective of "it's just a game" and I will gladly talk hockey for hours with anyone. Hockey is more than just a lifestyle, it's a culture of passionate people who make memories every time the puck is dropped. Hockey has not only helped me get through some of the hardest times in life but has created some of the best memories to date. Want to talk hockey with me? Shoot me an email: iburdetskiy@hookedonhockey.com and let's talk some hockey!
