Avid Flyers fan, former hockey player, and current drinker. I'm 27 years old and I still act like I'm 12. I've chosen to watch regular season Flyers games over work, girlfriends, special family occasions, and proper hygiene. And when the playoffs start...well I'm sure you can imagine. It's no wonder I'm still single, unemployed, and living with my parents. But until something comes along and changes my opinion about the Flyers (nothing ever will), I'm totally cool with it. By the way, I wrote a book. It has absolutely nothing to do with hockey. http://www.amazon.com/How-Be-Unsuccessful-John-Feldman/dp/1469982269/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342974305&sr=8-1&keywords=how+to+be+unsuccessful (I don't know how to hyperlink it. I'm not too smart.)

The NHL is back, which brings about a level of heightened excitement many hockey fans didn’t think would be experienced at all this year. For Flyers’ fans in particular, the season can’t start soon enough. There will be no fan base lost or no grudges held against either party. We just want to watch some hockey. What The End Of The Lockout Means For The Phantoms

ShennNHLtime

Happiness fills the entire hockey community as the NHL lockout ends, but for certain teams like the Phantoms, a troubling season just became more troubling. When the Phantoms lose Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier and Erik Gustafsson to the Flyers sometime this week, their top point scorer will have only 13 points, thirty-three games into the season. The Phantoms find themselves ... Read More »

New Year’s Solution

SchennPhantoms

The beginning of a new year is always a time for optimism. Everyone makes a pact with themselves that the new year will be a better year full of hope and promise. New Year’s resolutions are made, followed, and then – let’s be honest – completely forgotten about. For the Adirondack Phantoms, 2012 hasn’t been a year of optimism and ... Read More »

Operation Hat Trick: Success

OHT3

The best part of the night wasn’t the star caliber constantly on the ice. It wasn’t the inconsistency of cheering by specific fan bases, or the almost-fight between Carcillo and Asham, or even the deafening boos toward Jersey Shore’s Vinny Guadagnino when introduced. The two highlights of the night were both chants: “We want hockey,” and “Bettman sucks.” It was ... Read More »

Operation Hat Trick – Sandy Relief

Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall2

The effects of Hurricane Sandy have been devastating to the New Jersey and New York coastlines and in the midst of fundraisers, charity events, and donation stations, the few NHL players remaining on North American soil during this lockout have found a way to help the cause in their own way. On Saturday, November 24th, several NHL players will play ... Read More »

Schenn-sational

“The team that traded you, you want to do well against them. That’s what I’m going to look to do and I’ll try to have a big game.” Those were Brayden Schenn’s comments on Tuesday, the day before he would face the Manchester Monarchs – his former team – for the first time.   Schenn had the biggest game of ... Average Adirondack

phantomsupdate

With Ilya Bryzgalov posting less than pleasing statistics this year while playing for CSKA of the KHL, the Flyers have goaltending issues even during a time where no players are even allowed to wear a Flyers logo. The Phantoms don’t have either issue. Scott Munroe (University of Alabama-Huntsville) has taken sole possession of the starting goaltending position and has done ... Read More »

Adirondack Report

AdirondackPhantoms

Had the Phantoms still been playing at the Spectrum, just next door to the Wells Fargo Center, the NHL lockout wouldn’t hurt nearly as bad – but they no longer do. The Flyers’ affiliate is now located six hours away in upstate New York. I’m glad for the city of Adirondack and the players who get to hold the spotlight ... Read More »

Bettman: The Reason Flyers Can’t Be Flyers

flyersbeflyers

With the cancellation of the remaining preseason games a definite and the would-be start of the 2012-2013 NHL season nearing, no positive news seems to be coming from any meetings between the NHL and the NHLPA. A lengthy lockout seems to be a definite and with this gloomy news comes tough decisions for NHL players. As of now, other leagues ... Read More »

Flyers extend Hartnell for Six Years

Six year deals are a new trend for the Flyers, as after signing Wayne Simmonds to a six year deal the week before, they have now also signed Scott Hartnell to a new 6-year contract worth a total of $28.5 million. Just as Simmonds’ new contract, Hartnell’s will not go into effect until the 2013-2014 season, as he still has ... Read More »

The Flyers’ offseason woes continue. Not only did they fail to bring in a replacement for Chris Pronger on defense, but now they are starting to lose their own players to serious injury. Andrej Maszaros has torn his Achilles and will be out indefinitely. Many are reporting his injury and rehab to have him out most of, if not the ... Read More »

Flyers Next Captain?

Flyers Next Captain

This entire debate depends on Chris Pronger’s questionable future. If he returns for another season, he will undoubtedly be the Flyers’ captain. As it looks, though, he may never play another game. Head injuries are dangerous, but when they are potentially life-threatening, you have to take into perspective your life away from hockey. Most are assuming Pronger will do just ... Read More »

Flyers Sign Voracek

Flyers Sign Voracek

After a summer of disappointments, the Flyers finally have a positive response to a free agent. The Flyers have finally signed Jakub Voracek to a 4-year deal worth a reported $17 million (capgeek.com). Though not as big of a name as Parise, Suter, or Weber, Voracek is a signing that the Flyers had to have. The number seven overall pick ... Read More »

I’ll Take Shea Weber, Please

I'll Take Shea Weber, Please

Ryan Suter and Zach Parise. After them, free agency was just a dud. Several B level players remained to be picked up by other clubs, but besides these two players no other free agents in this year’s class could be game changers. That would still be the truth if the Flyers didn’t just offer Shea Weber a monster deal. As ... Read More »
